2x Outdoorfun

Hey, I know I should update my Blog more often but the last two weeks have been quite busy. The last two weeks were very hot, we had temperatures over 30°. The climate reminds me a little bit to the desert. In the month that I'm here we just had one day of rain!

Before two weeks and yesterday I was in Banff, it was really awesome just whatch the pics:

That' it... the next post will explain all a little bit, but I'm in a hurry now!

Getting high!

Hello again guys, tomorrow is the last day of my first lecture week and it was super cool. The lectures are quite interessting and the labs are not as hard as we thought the would be. The only bad thing, i should say really bad thing are the prices for the textbooks (they are usally over 100$ each).

Yesterday I was at the WingsNight at the Den. We were told it's the meeting point for the international students. It was really funny, we meet some Scottish and German guys and had a great (and long) evening with 10 wings for 2.50$.

Today me and Thomas were at the Calgary Tower because it was quite a good weather and we didn't regret it. Finally we walked a little bit through downtown and made a stop at Subway to grab a sandwich.

Saturday we go to Banff with Thomas and his roommates. We are going to rent a car and drive to the rockies to have a hike and picknick, I think.

Yeah thats it, enjoy the photos. I will post the next blog after this weekend with some pics from our daytrip.

Cheers

Go Stampeders!

Saturday we bought tickets for the football derby Calgary Stampeders vs. Edmonton Eskimos. The games took place today in the MacMahon Stadium (35.000 visitors) which is located on the campus (should be property of the UofC). It was a nice game and we demolished Edmonton with 32-8 points.

Actually I'm trying to improve my skills in C++ because unfortunately I will need them for the Data Analysis labs. Tomorrow morning we will have our first lecture. Hydrography at 9am.

Beside we are planning a trip to Banff next weekend with Reuben, Thomas and Micheal. We think about renting a car for Saturday and Sunday. I think that should work probably.

Yahuu Cowboys

Until know it was a really quite week. We decided to not participate on the orientation week for the first year students, quite a little bit too much cultural differences. Haha. Instead we checked out the campus and we were really astonished about the options what you can do beside study.

There are a huge quantity of sport activities beginning with soccer, basketball, climbing, swimming and also a gigantic fitnes center (with a 200m raceway) that are located in the Olympic Oval and the Kinesiology. The best information for us, it's all for free!

So instead of watching crazy canadian first year students jumping arround (like the rabbits here at the campus, a real invasion) we were bouldering and working out in the fitnes center. Maybe I will pass a test to get acces to the climbing walls.

Today was the first orientation for engineering exchange students and we decided to go there. It was quite interessting and for now we know that we are the only exchange students for the geomatics study. Great! A nice girl showed us all the lecture rooms and informated us about our upcoming labs.

Tonight is opening night in The Den, the only bar at the campus. I think I will go there by 9pm. Beside I recognized that there are often a lot of concert. For September and October there will be Silverstein, Dropkick Murphys, Moby, The Black Dahlia Murder and lots more. Really cool.

Tomorrow we have another important orientation for international students in the morning and maybe there will be a day trip the day after tomorrow. We will see.

byebye!
